Bob The Teacher moving to Minnesota!
When I was reading about Bob The Teacher moving in November from North Carolina to Minneapolis, Minnesota I remembered the time I was working and studying in Minnesota. That was quite long time ago. I had just completed my military service in Finnish Army and was wondering what to do next in my life.
I was accepted to the European Exchange Student Program and so I flew to Twin Cities via Copenhagen, Keflavik and New York. That was spring 1966, I was just 20 years old. There I met my host family from Balaton and program managers from St. Paul campus, where I was going to study the coming winter season with other members of the Program.
So I lived and worked with The Swans of Balaton, Minnesota. Great time. After summer before moving to St. Paul we drove by car all the way to Florida and picked oranges and avocados there to make some additional money. Xmas 1966 we spent in a cottage in the middle of orange farm.
Then we moved to St Paul campus. We studied the whole winter. We hade quite special program planned just for us and we were kept very busy all the winter. The following spring I took off to Oregon. That is an other story working as a lumberjack in the woods of southwestern Oregon.
Now Bob The Teacher is moving to Minnesota. He and his girlfriend made a fall river trip along the Mississippi.
